PARENTING (CHILDREN AND THE WORDS OF THEIR MOUTH) #4 – Ephesians 4vs29
Words are utterance that proceed out of our mouths and they are said to be powerful. Words can either impact positively or negatively. Parents, you need to be vigilant and mindful of the words you use on your children and you also need to guide and correct your children on the usage of corrupt words. Many children of our generation are so filled with immoral words that they insult, curse, speak nasty things etc. and even some of our parents encourage all these practices because they themselves are victims. Ephesians 4vs29 says; “You must let no unwholesome word come out of your mouth, but only what is beneficial for the building up of the one in need, that it may give grace to those who hear”.
Parents, train and teach your children to speak edifying words that will give grace, blessing, joy to those who hear them. When they start saying abusive words, slangs, stop and caution them against it because if you don’t they will think you are pleased. Parents, teach your children to say; ‘God bless you’, instead of ‘God punish you’. Teach your children to say; ‘God bless you’, instead of saying ‘you are a fool’. Parents, be careful of the words you sow into their little minds because your words can influence their future either positively or negatively. Matthew 12vs36; “I tell you that on the day of judgment, people will give an account for every worthless word they speak, for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned”.
Parents, save your children from being condemned by teaching them the right words of God and not the opposite. The good time you have to influence them is now because when they grow into adult, it may become hard to influence their words again – it’s like trying to uproot a mustard tree with bare hands and that was why the Bible says; “Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will depart from it” – Proverbs 22vs6.
Parents, God is counting on you to help Him train the children He has given you and if you carelessly ignore to teach them the right words to speak then you are in trouble on the last day. Parenting is not a child’s play and that is why you need to start building, teaching, correcting them in terms of their spoken words because their words can determine their success and failure here on earth and beyond. Jesus Christ cares to remind you and Be reminded again that Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth and the Life . . . – John 14vs6.
