The Bible in Matthew 15vs7-8, gives us a clear definition to the word ‘hypocrite’. A hypocrite is a person who draws near to God with his mouth and honors God with his lip but his heart is far from Him. The hypocrites are those who say they are Christians but not such in heart. They are the set of individuals who are with God physically but far from Him spiritually. They may be strong in prayer and fasting, they may regularly attend Church programs, camp meetings, etc. but are not still recognized in the spirit realm as children of God, all because their hearts are far from God.
A hypocrite is a professing Christian who doesn’t possess a Christ-like heart. The absence of a Christ-like heart in the life of any believer makes such believer a hypocrite before God. A Christ-like heart is a heart that is dominated by the Word of God – a heart that is always focused and always act on the Words of God. What kind of heart do you possess? Is it dominated by the Word of God or with the desires of the world? Does the Word of God reside in your heart or is it the lust of the flesh and desires of the world that occupy your heart? You see, no matter how long or often you pray and fast as long as you don’t possess a heart that is longing to hear the Word of God, then you are a hypocrite in God’s sight. The Bible went further in verse 9 of Matthew 15 to describe the hypocrites. It says that hypocrites worship God in vain and they preach the doctrines of men not God. This goes a long way to tell us that all hypocrites out there worship God in vain and those who worship God in vain cannot receive anything from God, even salvation of the souls.
Hypocrites don’t know God, neither do they receive any vision from God, hence their teachings are not of God. Since they do not carry the true Word of God in their hearts, they don’t preach the true message of salvation but rather they preach their own ideology which is not in line with God’s Will. My question to you all reading this is, are you a hypocrite? Do you possess a Christ-like heart? Is your heart dominated by the Word of God? Note that no hypocrite will make Heaven. So if you are one, change your status before it’s too late. Those who die worshiping God in vain will live forever with the vain god (satan); the god of vanity. Be reminded again that Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth and the Life . . . – John 14vs6..
