Literally, a pit is a hole in the ground which is deep or shallow. It is a cavity in the ground that serve various purposes for man like waste disposal, reservoir, drainage system and the likes.
A pit symbolically can be referred to a place of loneliness, abandonment, outcast, suffering, rejection, trouble, disappointment, punishment and misery. A pit is set up strategy used by the devil’s agent to ensnare God’s children aiming at destroying their destiny.
A pit is often prepared by the enemy for one to fall into for destruction – Psalms 35vs7; “For without cause they hid their net for me; without cause they dug a pit for my life”.
A pit can also be termed as a place beyond the grave – Psalms 55vs15; “Let death seize upon them, and let them go down quick into hell: for wickedness is in their dwellings, and among them”. A blind shepherd of the Word of God leads his blind followers into a pit – Matthew 15vs14; “Let them alone; they are blind guides. And if the blind lead the blind, both will fall into a pit”.
My people, your blindness or ignorance to the Ways of God is a pathway to the pit. The escape route from not falling into the pit is to faithfully and consistently follow the instructions of Jesus Christ – Psalms 32vs8; “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you”. Therefore let focus on Jesus Christ for He saves one from the pit and leads one certainly to eternal life. Be reminded again that Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth and the Life . . . – John 14vs6.
