Labour is a mental and physical exertion undertaken with the motive of benefit, that is, the measure of work done by humans for gains to satisfy and meet needs essentially required.
The earthly labour is done for acquiring profit and body satisfaction as Solomon explained in Ecclesiastes 2vs10; “And whatever my eyes desired I did not keep from them. I kept my heart from no pleasure, for my heart found pleasure in all my toil, and this was my reward for all my toil”. The labour of man is generally for meeting up with daily consumptions of needs, self-comfort and self-achievements. This kind of labour only benefits the body desires which may not be adding or increasing your spiritual value for eternal life which Solomon describes as vanity, meaningless or waste of time – Ecclesiastes 2vs11; “Then I considered all that my hands had done and the toil I had expended in doing it, and behold, all was vanity and a striving after wind, and there was nothing to be gained under the sun”.
The real essence of the earthly labour of man is for the Lord to use as vessel in helping others which is of great worth in God’s sight – Acts 20vs35; “In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive’”, Ephesians 4vs28; “Let the thief no longer steal, but rather let him labor, doing honest work with his own hands, so that he may have something to share with anyone in need”.
The outstanding labour is the labour in Christ Jesus which is not in vain but a surety of God’s promises to His children existence hereafter. This labour is a heartfelt one which are of faith, love, care and patience in fulfillment of God’s Will – 1 Thessalonians 1vs3; “We recall, in the presence of our God and Father, your work of faith, labor of love, and endurance of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ”.
Let this be our mindset priority always to labour for Jesus Christ, not for man in every areas of our lives till death comes since no man knows the hour he or she departs from the earth. Labour in Christ Jesus is eternal rest with God – Hebrews 4vs11; “Let us therefore strive to enter that rest, so that no one may fall by the same sort of disobedience”.
My people all around the world, the labour of man no matter how good it is ends here on earth as it is all said to be vanity – Ecclesiastes 9vs10; “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might, for there is no work or thought or knowledge or wisdom in the grave, to which you are going” but your labour in Christ is a surety of your salvation here and hereafter. Remain blessed as you always labour in Christ Jesus and I pray we for everyone in God’s labour shall not labour in vain in Jesus Christ Name, amen. Be reminded again that Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth and the Life . . . – John 14vs6.
