OKPAGA COMFORT NKECHIYERE: Praise God! Glory be to God to be here on Comfort’s Desk again. Today’s discussion on the desk is; ‘WHY JESUS CHRIST DID SAY I FOREWARN YOU’? In Luke 12vs4-5, Jesus Christ spoke to His disciples saying; “I tell you, my friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that have nothing more they can do. But I will forewarn you whom you should fear: fear the One who, after the killing, has authority to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear Him!” To forewarn means to foretell or warn someone about something bad or unpleasant in advance before it happens. To this, Jesus did say, we should not be afraid of anyone who can only kill the body and not the soul (that is, cannot kill the soul identity) but He forewarned us to fear God because He has power to cast into hell and once this is done, that marks the end of such person’s soul identity.
IGHO UFUOMA MARVELOUS: Thanks you very much Sister Comfort. Of course, there is need to know what soul identity means. The soul identity is the part of a person of divine recognition which is believed to continue to exist after one dies. The beauty of our soul identities is to live for eternity with God because any soul that shall be cast into hell shall experience what is unbearable. I mean shall have no identification with God and once the identification with God is destroyed, then eternal destruction becomes the new and everlasting identity. This is why Jesus Christ seriously forewarned us to fear God so that we don’t fall into His Hands because it will be terrible for anyone who becomes a victim of this – Hebrews 10vs31; “It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God”.
GAFFORD FAVOUR: Yes, serious warning of course! Now, in order to save our soul identities, Jesus Christ provided the perfect solution which is to fear God. To fear God means to take into consideration diligently all He demanded from us, to stand in awe of Him, to glorify Him, and to trust Him wholeheartedly – Revelations 14vs6-7; “. . . He spoke with a loud voice: ‘Fear God and give Him glory, because the hour of His judgment has come. Worship the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea and springs of water’”. The fear of God in anyone makes him not to be a conscious sinner (one who knows what sins are and still engages in them) – 2 Corinthians 7vs1; “Therefore, dear friends, since we have such promises, let us cleanse ourselves from every impurity of the flesh and spirit, completing our sanctification in the fear of God”.
NWAJIAKU CHARLES CHINONSO: In conclusion, an adage says; ‘to be forewarned is to be forearmed’. What this means is that if you know something unpleasant is going to happen in the future, then you can be ready to deal with it. It is obvious that the human race is on the verge of losing its soul identities and that is why Jesus Christ warned us against this danger. Without the fear of God well established in us, Jesus Christ can’t do nothing to save us but to watch us as we are been cast into the outer darkness, where souls shall permanently lost their identities with God. Jesus Christ had warned us and still warning us to this very day that anyone who is wise enough should heed to this warning.
The Bible in Proverbs 19vs23 tells us that; “The fear of the LORD leads to life . . .” So, we are using this medium to remind us about this warning Jesus Christ has set before us and I pray that as we heed to this warning, we shall have our identities with God forever in Jesus Christ name, amen. Be reminded again that Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth and the Life . . . – John 14vs6.
