OKPAGA COMFORT NKECHIYERE: Glory be to God to be here again on Comfort Desk. The discussion on the desk today is; “YOU ARE NEVER TOO LATE TO MAKE A U–TURN”. Life is not a straight road without a U-Turn! If you stubbornly refuse to make use of life’s U–Turn where needed, you may end up at a dead end. The engineers who constructed our highways know that people driving will need to take a U–Turn at one point or the other for the smoothness of the journey. Don’t you think the Chief Architect of the universe would have placed a U–Turn on the journey of our lives? – 1 John 1vs9. You confessing your sins means you are making a U–Turn to submit to God. Also, as the Bible said that except a man is born again he cannot see the Kingdom of God – John 3vs3. Being born again here means what we are talking about; to make a U-Turn.
IGHO UFUOMA MARVELOUS: Thank you sister Comfort for that. Luke 15vs 11-32, talks about the prodigal son that said to His father to divide his property which the father did and went out to lavish the money on worthless things but when he realized he has done what was wrong and needed to redirect his steps, he had to make a sensible U–Turn back to his father. Sad to say, many people instead of making a wise U–Turn, they allow pride and arrogance to push them going on the wrong path till they reach a dead end with no opportunity for rescue again. I want us to know in life, we are bound to make mistakes sometimes as we take some decisions or routes that may lead to our destructions but once we’ve realized we’ve gotten it wrong, we shouldn’t hesitate to make a U–Turn immediately, and not putting on the running shoes of ‘I–have–gone–too–far–to– turn–back’ because it will definitely end up in destruction.
GAFFORD FAVOUR: Thanks for that view sister Marvelous. I will be using king Nebuchadnezzar as my case study to buttress this message. Here, was a very powerful king graced with wealth, authority and he besieged nations. He was deep into the world that he saw himself as god and even his image became an object of worship. Due to his prowess, he took himself with so much pride and disregarded the commands of God. Even after his dream, Daniel urged him to break off from sin and practice righteousness in order for God to withdraw His punishments against him so that he would be saved from the impending consequences of his evil actions, but he turned deaf ears. Finally, he came to the end of his destructive path and was made to have his dwelling with the beasts of the fields, ate grasses like an ox and was wet with the dew of Heaven for seven years. He finally came to realize that God is the Most High and he reverenced Him as the only true God. The question is, would he have suffered all those punishments if he had repented and made a U–Turn earlier? Of course not! We should not wait until we go through pains, torments and regrets before we make a U–Turn back to the right path. Don’t let us be negligence in making a U-Turn where necessary now for the salvation of our souls so that it doesn’t become too late for us to do so in the future which may lead us to a destructive end.
NWAJIAKU CHARLES CHINONSO: Just as my colleagues have rightly said, life is not a straight road journey. No matter what you think you might have done wrong, no matter how far you think you might have gone in your mistakes and errors, as long as you are still alive on earth, then it is still expected of you to make that U–Turn and take the right path for your own good. In Isaiah 1vs18, here God tells us to come and reason with Him, though our sins be like scarlet, He’s ready to wash us as white as snow, though our sins be as red as crimson, He’s ready to wash us as white as wool. This is God’s confirmation of acceptance, no matter who we are or what we might have done, He still loves us and He is willing to help us back to the right path. I want to let you know that no matter who rejects you, God who created you has not rejected you. He is calling unto us for repentance as He’s willing, I mean very willing to guide us on the right way to go. All He expects of us is to make that U–Turn now to go along His path.
Here are examples of what making a U-Turn means:
1. CONFESSION: The Bible in proverbs 28vs13 tells us that those who hide their sins shall never prosper but those who confess their sins shall obtain mercy. Confession is the first phase of taking a U–Turn in life for anyone who wants to be saved. This makes us to acknowledge our faults and shortcomings before Our Maker, God Almighty. This is one of the ways we can show God that we are indeed ready to take a U–Turn and come back to go along His path for the salvation of our souls.
2. OBEDIENCE TO THE WILL OF GOD: Our total submission and obedience to every Word that proceeds from the mouth of God shows we’ve taken a U-Turn as against the path of disobedience we have been moving.
3. CONSISTENCE IN PRAYER AND FASTING: Jesus Christ told us to be effective in the place of prayer and fasting. This is a path we must make a U-Turn to take if we are still off because anyone who is careless in the place of prayer and fasting will not go far in life before he gets stopped by issues of life. To be consistence in prayer and fasting is also a U-Turn we need to take if we are not on the path.
4. ACCEPTANCE OF JESUS CHRIST: After our genuine confession, the mercy God is said to be released. Accepting Jesus Christ shows we have taken a U–Turn because knowing fully well that without Him we will miss the best of God for our lives.
I repeat again, without Jesus Christ the Son of God, we can never successfully move on the path of salvation for our souls. So, make a U-Turn to Him if you are yet to do so and I pray that as we do so, the joy of salvation and redemption shall rest upon our hearts till we get to our destination which is Heaven in Jesus Name, amen. Be reminded again that Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth and the Life. . . – John14vs6
