At Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, a woman came unto Jesus Christ with an alabaster flask of very expensive ointment, and she poured it on His head, as He sat at the table. When the disciples saw it, they were indignant saying; “Why this waste? For this ointment might have been sold for a large sum, and given to the poor”. Jesus Christ ignored His disciples’ comments but rather complimented the woman’s deed and said something very striking that; “Truly I say to you, wherever this Gospel is preached in the whole world, what she has done will be told in memory of her”.
Yes, something must have inspired her to do what she did and today she is remembered for her good vesture towards Christ. This is to tell us that whenever we do anything to the glory of God, you will always be remembered for it in God’s affairs here and hereafter. This is also goes further to tell us that whenever the Holy Spirit gives you an idea to do something for God’s glory and you succeed in doing it, then you have succeeded in creating a remembrance for yourself in God’s affairs here and hereafter.
Please, don’t ignore anything good to be done to the glory of God for this brings you into the atmosphere of God’s affairs, and let us continue to stay focused on Jesus Christ who is the Way, the Truth and the Life: that no one goes to God except through Him – John 14vs6.
