Jesus Christ in Matthew 23vs1-13 described various ways in which the Scribes and Pharisees failed in their God’s given roles in leading the people. He said; “Wow unto them, hypocrites! For they shut the kingdom against men; neither enter they themselves.” They shut the Kingdom of God against men by slandering Jesus Christ and His message; making the people observe their traditions; persecuting those who actively followed Jesus Christ. They were stumblingly blocks to the faithful. They were not indeed ready for the Kingdom of God neither would they allow others to go in. They weren’t prioritizing the practice of God’s Word except to absorb only with the preparation and the preaching of the sermon.
This was why Jesus Christ told the multitude not to behave like them because they don’t practice the very message they preach. “Woe unto them!, says Jesus Christ”. Here, Jesus Christ is making us know the pending Judgement of doom looming in on them.
Are you acting like these sets of people Jesus Christ talked about here: shutting men against the kingdom of God? It’s better you repent now before the wrath of God comes upon you for it’s a terrible thing to fall into His hands and to keep your focus on Jesus Christ who is the Way, the Truth and the Life: that no one goes to God except through Him – John 14vs6.
