Idols are things rated higher than God in your life and these things will do no good to you other than to hinder your chance of having eternal life in Christ Jesus. In Mark 10vs17-34, a rich man asked Jesus Christ what else was needed to be done for him to have eternal life. Jesus Christ responded to him saying he should sell all his wealth (that which seemed highly placed in the place of God) and give it to the poor. After hearing this, the rich man became sad and walked away unhappy with which Jesus Christ further responded that, it would had for rich person to enter the Kingdom of God
If we can’t let go of all we all we have placed in the place of God (idols) in our lives, then we can’t make God’s Kingdom – Deuteronomy 5vs7; “Do not have other gods besides Me”. Note, none of your earthly possessions or idols can give you eternal life. Therefore, don’t place an idol in the place of God in your life for the salvation of your soul and be reminded again that Jesus Christ forever remains the Way, the Truth and the Life: no one goes to God except through Him – John 14vs6.
