Prior to Jesus Christ’s ascension, He told His disciples about the promise of the Father, the Holy Spirit. He promised them saying; ” But, the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you” – John 14vs26. After His ascension, at the upper room where the disciples were gathered, God rained His Spirit upon them and they were filled with the Holy Spirit and manifested the power of God.
Subsequent to the fulfilment of God’s promise of the Holy Spirit, Jesus Christ predicted future events that would happen at the end time; pointing us to the trials and persecutions God’s people would face for His name sake – Mark 13vs9-11. He further said to them that when the time shall come. they are brought before authorities for trials and so on, they shouldn’t panic on the words to say, that the Holy Spirit would empower them with the appropriate words to speak. And according to Jesus’ promise, so it was till they all finished their assignment except Judas Iscariot who went astray.
As believers, I would want us to know that we are not excluded, for a time would come when we will be brought before trials for the sake of the Gospel of the Christ, let us not be troubled on what to say rather we should rely on the Holy Spirit empowerment to witness as they did likewise. Praise God! And as we do, please let us continue to stay focused on this same Jesus Christ who is the Way, the Truth and the Life that: no one goes to God except through Him – John 14vs6.
