You see, deception is not only destructive unto others when we practice it but unto oneself as well. Let’s take Judas Iscariot as a case study on this. There among the other disciples at the Passover, Jesus Christ though aware that Judas Iscariot would betray him said to all; “Truly, I say to you, one of you will betray me, one who is eating with me”. To be cleared, everyone asked Jesus Christ, ‘Is it me?’. Here is where deception come into play. Judas Iscariot knew he was the one, yet was hypocritical to ask like the others and his misery began from there.
Judas Iscariot through his deceptive nature did something even more outrageous again. What did he do? He knew that right there he wasn’t spiritually fit to eat of the Passover meal that symbolizes Jesus’ blood and flesh, yet he pretended to be upright in heart just like the rest of the disciples and ate. Instead of this being a blessing to him, it became a poison that fastened his destruction.
Perhaps, if he had refused to eat it because of his state of heart, Jesus Christ might have helped him but, he hardened his heart, played deceptively to be pure and ate what contradicted his nature, thereby destroying himself.
Many of us are like Judas Iscariot, we eat of the holy communion, meanwhile, our hearts are against all that Jesus Christ signifies. So, instead of it to bring us healing, deliverance, blessings and salvation, it becomes a poison bringing us more problems.
Are you deceptively serving God? He sees your heart and you can’t deceive him. Therefore, desist from the sin of hypocrisy and deception so that you don’t bring destruction upon yourself and others here and in eternity just like Judas Iscariot did.
And as we do, let us continue to focus on this same Jesus Christ who is the Way, the Truth and the Life that: no one goes to God except through Him – John 14vs6
