PRAY SO THAT YOU DON’T FALL INTO TEMPTATION

In the garden of Gethsemane, Jesus Christ gave a practical example of what consistent prayer offered at the right time could do. In Mark 14vs32-42, Jesus Christ took Peter, James and John to Gethsemane to pray, but all the while that He was alone to pray, they were busy sleeping. At the third time He came again to check on them, He found them sleeping. Then, with a saddened heart, He asked them, “Are you still sleeping and resting? Enough! The hour has come! Look, the son of man is now being handed to the power of sinners”. At this point, Jesus Christ didn’t tell them to pray again instead He said; ‘enough! Rise up and let’s go’.
Here, Jesus Christ teaches us that our prayers should be offered at the right time God expects it because once we offer our prayers at the wrong time, the beauty of such prayer may be lost. Also, Jesus Christ in that verse 38 said; “keep watch and pray so that you don’t fall in to temptation”. Here, we can see that prayer is our weapon again temptations and once we fail to pray, we may not be able to resist falling into the temptation of sin.
As believers, we should always be fervent in the place of prayer and also offer it at God’s expected time so that we can enjoy it effective results.
Finally as we live to stay alive and effective in the place of prayer, let us stay focused on this same Jesus Christ who is the Way, the Truth and the Life that no one goes to God except through Him – John 14vs6.
