WHAT DEFILES A MAN? – COMFORT’S DESK

GAFFORD FAVOUR: Praise God! Glory be to God to be here on Comfort’s Desk. Today’s discussion on the desk is ‘WHAT DEFILES A MAN?’, and I would like to say that to be defiled is being in a state of uncleanliness or impurity especially in the sight of God. Looking at the discussion on the desk today, is it what goes into a man that makes him unclean or what? This question was perfectly answered by Jesus Christ in Matthew 15vs17-21, saying that what a person eats does not defile him rather what comes out from his mouth which springs out of his heart. This is to tell us that what makes us unclean before God is the sin that we exhibit in our hearts and act on.
IGHO UFUOMA MARVELOUS: Yes! What defiles a man is what comes out of his mouth that springs out of his heart and these could be; evil thoughts, sexual immoralities, stealing, lying, lust, murder and many others.
NWAJIAKU CHARLES CHINONSO: Very important to note that if one chooses to defile himself with sin, there are sure to be consequences for such decision. Once a person is defiled with sin, such a person is deprived of some basic needs he’s meant to possess and enjoy in God’s presence. For example; a defiled person’s prayer becomes abomination in God’s sight. Also, such a person can’t enjoy divine communication with the Holy Spirit and since a defiled person can’t communicate effectively with the Holy Spirit, then such a person will not be able to fulfil his or her destiny in Christ Jesus as the Holy Spirit shows and leads us on the way to our destiny. Worst of all, as the Bible tells us in Revelation 21vs7, those who are defiled cannot enter into life with Jesus Christ. Hence, it is very important for us to try as much as possible to keep ourselves (hearts) from being defiled just as the Bible warns us in Proverbs 4vs23, so that all these evil side effects of being defiled do not befall us.
OKPAGA COMFORT NKECHIYERE: Then, what must one then do to be saved after being defiled? Here are important things to do for one who is defiled?
1. You must confess your sins – James 5vs16, 1 John 1vs9.
2. Cut off from such sins – Colossians 3vs5, Mark 9vs43, 2 Corinthians 6vs17.
3. Engage yourself in prayer consistently – Luke 21vs36.
4. Meditate on the Word of God and keep them in your heart – Ephesians 6vs11, 17.
5. Discern your desires – Colossians 3vs 12-17.
6. Allow the Holy Spirit to always lead you – Romans 8vs14.
7. And finally remember that Jesus Christ is the answer to all fundamental issues of all – John 14vs6. Praise God!
