SAY “YES” TO FORGIVENESS – IT SHOWS THE TRUE NATURE OF GOD IN YOU
Forgiveness simply means to pardon past grudges, offense, anger, etc. held against someone. Forgiveness is one of the beautiful attribute of God and He depicts it beyond measure to all humanity by offering His son to redeem us from our sins – Ephesians 1vs7- “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace”. The world is a cruel one and many people in it take advantage of it’s wickedness to hurt others leaving them in a shattered mess and these victims have vowed not to forgive until they revenge to satisfy their pains but Jesus is saying, ‘forgive and let it go just as He has forgiven you’.
Unforgiveness is like holding a coal and expecting the other person to get burnt, it only hurts you more and makes you not to get God’s forgiveness. Matthew 6vs15 says; “But if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses”. I remembered when I’ve not known Jesus Christ, I held a great anger against my father and vowed not to forgive him but to tell you the truth, my father was living his life freely but I was living my life in torment because of unforgiveness. At times, we see our past pains and betrayal as reasons not to forgive our offenders but do that pain of yours sum up to that of Jesus Christ who was betrayed and nailed to the Cross for you? Despite His great agony, He still prayed for His offenders saying, ‘Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do’ – Luke 23vs34. The command of Jesus Christ is that we should forgive our offenders ‘seventy times seven’ and I’m sure, this shows no limit to forgiveness. My people, let’s practice forgiveness because it improves our mental and physical health and gives us access to inherit the Kingdom of God as this also makes us pure in heart – Matthew 5vs8.
Say “NO” to unforgiveness and embrace forgiveness because it draws us more close to God than ever. For you to overcome unforgiveness, hasten your footsteps to Jesus Christ through whom abundance grace and empowerment come to live a life of forgiveness and be reminded again that Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth and the Life . . . – John 14vs6.
