The Bible gave a wonderful definition of love in 1 Corinthians 13vs4 saying; “Love is patient, love is kind. Love does not envy, is not boastful, is not conceited”. Love does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrong, but rejoices in the right. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love is one of the amazing nature of God and He is Love – 1 John 4vs16; “And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwells in love dwells in God, and God in him”. Love for God and neighbours are the most essential command of God to all humanity and it should be practiced beyond measure – Matthew 22vs37-39. The love of God towards us caused Him to give up His only Son as a propitiation for our sins – John 3vs16; “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life”. The world we find ourselves is a market filled with hatred among its occupant, still God commands us to be channels of love to those around us just as He loved us – John 15vs17; “This I command you, to love one another”.
Love in its numerous attributes is one of the fruits of the spirit which a genuine follower of Christ must possess – Galatians 5vs22.
My people, let’s learn, strive hard to practice and show love to others because it points us out as Children of God and once we are void of this glorious attribute, the Bible says we don’t know God – 1 John 1vs8; “He who does not love, does not know God; for God is love”.
For God so loved us, we also ought to love one another – 1 John 4vs11; “Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another”. So, make every moment a memorable one by showing love to people even the undeserved because love is one of the criteria to inherit the Kingdom of God and for you to effectively show love in its divine nature, you need to learn from Jesus Christ, the One who loves us to the brim. Be reminded again that Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth and the Life . . . – John 14vs6.
