Doubt simply means to a feeling of being uncertain about something or not believing something. To doubt something is to feel uncertain about it or feel it probably won’t happen. The major problem many of us have with God is nothing other than doubt. In this life everything will work out for you by faith but when doubt comes in everything becomes void.
One of the major problems preventing God from hearing most of our prayers, pouring His spirit out on us, healing our broken bodies and speaking to us is doubt. Doubt acts like a force field shielding us from God’s presence. Doubt begins when you have a double-minded attitude towards what God has said or promised you.
You see, it is faith that brings down the power of God from Heaven. It is faith you need to receive anything from God, but as soon as you start doubting God, He finds it so hard to reach you. God has promised so much to the human race, but only those who receives these promises with faith will see its fulfillment in their lives. Every word of God proves true – Proverbs 30vs5; “Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him”. John 17vs17 also shows that the Word of God is true. Whatever God says, is the solid truth. If He promises you something, it will surely come your way. So, anyone who doubt the word of God makes himself a fool. Only a fool will open his or her mouth and say that God tells lies. Only a fool will begin to say, ‘how will this thing that God has promised me even come to pass in my life? It is not possible! Imagine telling a person that the sky is bluish in color and the person, instead of agreeing, argues the statement and says the sky is greenish in color instead. The person spoke with confidence that ‘yes the sky isn’t bluish, but greenish in color’. Now, tell me, how would you look at that person? The person will surely look like a fool to you. You will say to yourself, ‘this person doesn’t know anything, how can someone argue such a universal truth’. The same thing applies to God. When He promises you something and you begin to debate it in your heart saying, ‘can God really do this?’, you will look like a fool before His eyes. The doubt you have in your heart towards the universal truth, that is God’s word, will make you a fool before Him. Infact doubting a Supreme Being like God makes you the king of fools.
A little faith in God can work wonders in your life, but a little doubt can destroy so large a gift God prepared for you. So, don’t make yourself a fool before God. He doesn’t like fools. No fool will enter His kingdom on the Last Day. So, it is to your own interest to kill every doubting voice in your heart and to have full faith in your Creator. Those who profess to be Christians and doubt God are foolish and these set of professed Christians have no place in Heaven, but the other side, if they fail to flee their doubtful nature – John 14vs6.
