IGHO UFUOMA MARVELOUS: Praise God! You are welcome to Comfort Desk today and the discussion on the desk is; ‘DON’T REBULID WHAT YOU HAVE DESTROYED’. The Bible says in Galatians 2vs18 that; “For if I build again the things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor”.
According to dictionary definition, to rebuild means to build something again after is has been pulled down, destroyed or damaged. It can also be said to be a process of making something strong and successful again. To rebuild according to this discussion is to bring to life again those sinful habits we have once claimed we have destroyed. Apostle Paul placed this warning not to rebuild what we’ve destroyed because if we do, we make ourselves transgressors.
GAFFORD FAVOUR: Thank you for that Sister Marvelous. Yes, the Holy Bible also made it clear in Proverbs 26vs11 that anyone who returns back to the ungodly lifestyle he has rejected and forsaken is a like a dog that returns back to its vomit. That is, we must not rebuild the sinful lifestyle of fornication, lust, fraud, lying, adultery, masturbation, stealing, drunkenness, unforgiveness, idolatry, corruption etc., we have once destroyed in our lives in time past. The rebuild of these expose us to various dangers such as;
1. Separation from the presence of the Holy Spirit.
2. Absence of the joy of salvation.
3. Rejection from God.
4. Total fall from grace.
5. Departure of peace from one’s life and
6. Eternal damnation.
OKPAGA COMFORT NKECHIYERE: Thank you for that deep insight my dear Sister in Christ. As born again Christians or believers who want to remain with Christ till eternity, we must not rebuild what we’ve destroyed. Yes, as we’ve destroyed the nature of sin, we ought not to go back to our vomit just as Colossians 3vs5-9 admonishes us.
Jesus Christ does not want is to go back to our old lives because He has prepared so many things for those who remain steadfast till the very end without rebuilding the sinful nature they’ve destroyed. For if we don’t go back to the bad and sinful lifestyles we have destroyed but remain steadfast in building ourselves the more in Christ Jesus, then it’s certain we enjoy the following;
1. The protection of the Lord.
2. Free from the grip of the destruction of what we’ve destroyed.
3. Enjoy the dwelling presence of the Holy Ghost.
4. Restoration of divine relationship with God.
5. Effective communication with God.
6. Eternal life in Heaven at last.
NWAJIAKU CHARLES CHINONSO: Well spoken my dear Sister Comfort. I actually want us to know that it’s very dangerous to rebuild the nature of sin we have destroyed. It is very dangerous to go back to the nature of lives we have pulled out of. This act has destroyed the bright future many had in Christ and it is still eagerly ready to destroy the future of as many individuals who fall victim of it. We shouldn’t allow any unacceptable nature of life of the past not pleasing to God that we’ve destroyed in us to be rebuilt again. This is needful because rebuilding those sinful nature of the past prove that we are transgressors before God as explained by Sister Marvelous. By rebuilding those things we have destroyed, we renounce our salvation in Christ to accept the will of sin which transforms us from being safe in Christ Jesus to being slaves to sin and bondage again. This is a dangerous path to tread because by surrendering to sin, we give the devil even more dominion over us than he had before we were changed or transformed.
Also, note that it is dangerous for us to rebuild what we have destroyed because if we do, we put ourselves under a curse. Yes, I repeat, when we rebuild the sinful nature we have destroyed, we replace ourselves under a curse again. It would be very unacceptable and disheartening by God to see us with hammer, shovel and bricks, rebuilding what we have destroyed in our lives.
Let’s take the destruction of the city of Jericho as a case study. After God had destroyed that city for the deliverance and progress of His people, He never expected the city to be rebuilt again as a curse was laid on whosoever plans to rebuild it as written in Joshua 6vs26. We see this curse manifesting upon the life of a man named Hiel from Bethel, because he rebuilt what God had destroyed as written also in 1 Kings 16vs34. Our past lives are like the city of Jericho which prevents us from moving to our place of destiny. This is why God had to destroy it. So, if we decide to go ahead and rebuild that city of Jericho (our past lives), we will live under a curse. So, we are using this medium to encourage us not to rebuild the sinful nature we have destroyed for the salvation of our souls and we pray that as we work towards this, God give us the grace to remain steadfast till the very end in Jesus Christ name, amen. Be reminded again that Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth and the Life. . . – John 14vs6.
