Dislike can be explained as objects, aspects or actions that invoke a negative reaction in someone. However, hatred is a much deeper emotion or feeling towards one that is much harder to explain. We can find hatred between two individuals, between communities or persons and objects.
Hatred emerges when pain is inflicted or experienced. Childhood squabbles can result in a grudge that can lead to hatred between siblings. Wars or conflict between two factors can also lead to hatred which can be difficult to stop. The question is, how can I bring love in the place hatred is present? Liken this to take weeds out of a well manicured lawn. If you simply pull the weeds out, the root will continue to grow and in few weeks, a new weed will emerge. So the first task is to find the root of this hatred.
Here are some tips to understand how hatred is formed and it goes thus; What was the context? What was the fighting trying to achieve? What threat did the racial difference create? Once you have some of those answers, you can start to help the haters to understand their hatred and help understand the consequences of maintaining this person. Explore how their lives and the lives of their loved ones might be different if they are able to come to terms with their hatred. Trying to bring love into those situations can be a challenge that most people will ignore or try to avoid.
As believers, we should do our best possible to explore love in the midst of hate than trying to avoid or ignore for the salvation of our souls and others. I pray that God bless this message in the midst of our heart in the name of Jesus Christ, amen. As we do, let us continue to stay focused on this same Jesus Christ who is the Way, the Truth and the Life: that no one goes to God except through Him – John 14vs6.
